That's right!!!! It's Speedweeks 2009 - the week leading up to the Daytona 500 - the first race of the NASCAR season! I decided to throw a party for myself to celebrate the start of the season begining with the Budweiser Shootout which is a short race sponsored by a beverage I don't drink. Each car manufacturer in NASCAR (Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Toyota) had 7 cars in the race. I made ticket invitations for Amy, Abbie & Jeremy and last night was the party. Upon arrival everyone received their pit pass with the lineup by manufacturer and the rules of the race.

We also had two contests - each of had had a team - Amy was Team Chevy, Abbie Team Ford, Jeremy Team Dodge & I was team Toyota (guess what Kyle Busch drives). Whomever's manufacturer was leading the race after the first segments won NASCAR driver/girlfriend glasses. You can figure out who won those in the pictures at the end. The manufacturer that won received a trophy - That was Amy & Kevin Harvick for Team Chevy!
We also got our opportunity to be the driver!

Team Ford - AbbieI had a lot of fun putting it together despite all the people who made fun of me for it and I think the non NASCAR fans had good time and will hopefully get some use out of their goody bags! Thanks to those who came! Maybe I'll throw one in Utah for the 4th of July race if I make it home to visit!

That's awesome-- love those cut outs. I saw at our dollar store, nascar toothbrushes-- you let me know if you want some nascar stuff for your next party-- I'll stock you up. That's fun that you've taken something you love and made it fun (and addicting for those around you. Pretty cool

Dang! Wish I was there, but wouldn't have a "team" to cheer for, although Kyle is always my favorite, too! Move over, Melody!

Mel and Amy! This looks like an absolute blast! If I would have known how into Nascar you were we would have been having all kinds of parties down here in Santa Clarita!! I love it!
