I have always loved pizza. It probably started as a child. I remember one of the best Saturday night rewards, after hours of sifting dirt and cleaning the house was Little Ceasar Pizza. It was rectangular and cut into square pieces. We would all take baths, mom would spread out a big sheet in the living room and we would get to eat pizza while watching our favorite shows, The A-Team, Knight Rider, and various Laker Basketball Games. Fun times for sure!
I'm sure the love was also fostered by the fact that my Grandpa Smith was a pizza man. While I was really young, he moved to Delta, Utah and opened up a pizza restaurant called The Pizza House. No pizza I have ever tasted tops a Pizza House pizza. Something about the sweetness of the crust and the great combinations of toppings and flavors has always made it far superior any other pizza.
When they came to visit us in California all we cared about was whether or not they brought pizza. Grandpa would bake it half way and then freeze it for the trip to CA. We'd get it and bake it the rest of the way to perfection! YUMMY!!
A few years ago for New Years Eve, all of my siblings had a party at my parents home. Our meal of choice? Pizza, of course! Robert tracked down the Pizza House Dough recipe from one of his friends who had worked there during high school and we made quite the variety of Pizza House Pizza. It was awesome! Since then, Pizza House pizza is a staple at my house.
I do have to admit though, that every time I make it, my uncles words echo in my head.....
Grandpa's given to me and you,
A stale old pizza that we must chew.
And so we sit and sing our song,
and chew our pizza all night long.
Pizza House Pizza Recipe
3 cups flour
1 cup warm water
1 tsp salt
1/8 cup powdered milk
1/6 cup sugar
1 egg
1tbsp yeast
Mix water and yeast; add in egg.
Add in other ingredients. Knead 2-3 minutes
Let rise for about 1 hour, then roll out.
Bake at 400 for 10-12 minutes.
I don't feel bad sharing the recipe knowing that it's not the recipe anymore. Since selling the pizza house about a year ago, the recipe has been changed.
Enjoy! and be sure to share any great topping combinations you use!

Thanks for posting the pizza dough recipe! I will let you know if we come up with anything creative.
I love reading your blog. We miss you here in SoCal!
Thank you!!! Now we all have the recipe and it is a good one. I'll have to make some pizza this weekend!!
Was that Matt or Russ that made up those words?
I think the next time we have pizza it will be made homemade! My family might have a heart attack because it's homemade but it sounds yummy!
You have to point out that the quantities in the recipe are a little weird bcs it was scaled down from a bulk recipe. How do you measure 1/6 cup of sugar? :)
We love pizza too (as Mike can verify - he seems to come over everytime we have it). It's Lincoln's favorite and one of the few semi-healthy things Sawyer will eat!!
